Why Buy From GIG Guitars
Why Buy From GIG Guitars
Family-owned in Glen Innes, NSW, GIG Guitars offers carefully selected instruments you can trust. Fast shipping, easy returns, and friendly advice make buying simple and stress-free.
About Us
About Us
GIG Guitars is an independent Australian music store based in Glen Innes, in the New England High Country of New South Wales. For seven years, we’ve helped musicians across Australia choose instruments and gear with clearer advice, personal service and genuine enthusiasm for music.
We’re a small regional business, not a national chain. That means you can talk to someone who understands the products, listens to what you need and is prepared to help before and after your purchase.
Specialist advice without the big-chain experience
Choosing an instrument can be deeply personal. Specifications matter, but so do playing style, experience, goals and budget. Whether you’re buying your first guitar, comparing two closely matched models or searching for something specific, we aim to make the decision easier rather than push you towards the quickest sale.
Our range includes guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects, folk and orchestral instruments, audio equipment and essential accessories from established international brands and respected Australian makers. If you’re unsure whether something is right for you, ask us. Straightforward advice is part of the service.
Honest, transparent fulfilment
GIG Guitars serves customers through our Glen Innes store and online across Australia. Some products are available locally, while many online orders are supplied directly by authorised Australian distributors. Supplier-direct delivery helps us offer a broader range without pretending every product is physically sitting in our store.
Whichever fulfilment route applies, we remain your point of contact. We provide order updates, help with product questions and support you if an issue needs to be resolved. For used and vintage instruments, we describe condition and known functionality as clearly as possible so you can make an informed decision.
Why musicians choose GIG Guitars
- Personal help from an independent specialist music retailer
- Knowledgeable guidance before and after your purchase
- A broad range of instruments, amplification and music gear
- Australia-wide service with local pickup available in Glen Innes

Shipping & Returns
Shipping Direct to Consumer Delivery
We ship your order via Australia Post E-Parcel or StarTrack Express, or arrange courier collection on your behalf. As soon as your order is on its way, we'll send your consignment details to your email so you can track it.
A few things worth knowing before your guitar arrives
For residential deliveries, couriers may leave your parcel at the address without a signature if nobody's home, so it's worth arranging delivery somewhere secure if that's a concern. You can check proof-of-delivery details anytime via Australia Post or StarTrack Express's own tracking tools.
Once your parcel is confirmed delivered, responsibility passes to you, the same as with most direct freight in Australia. If you'd like extra peace of mind, just ask us to add transit insurance to your order before it ships, we're happy to arrange it for a small additional charge.
We'll always give you the tracking details and help however we can if something looks off in transit, even though the courier is the responsible party once your item is on the road. Got a tricky delivery address or timing concern? Message us before you order and we'll help you plan around it, that's the kind of thing a small specialist store like us is built for.
Returns
We stand behind what we sell. If your item has a problem that would've changed your decision to buy it, is unsafe, is significantly different from its description, or doesn't do what we said it would and can't easily be fixed, you're covered for a repair, refund, or exchange.
If the issue is minor, we'll repair it within a reasonable time, and if that takes too long, you can choose a refund or replacement instead. If you'd rather keep the item, we can also compensate you for any drop in value.
As a specialist store, we don't offer change-of-mind returns, that's part of how we keep our pricing honest and our focus on getting you the right instrument the first time. If you're ever unsure about a product, ask us before you buy.
Lost gift vouchers can't be refunded, but a lost physical voucher can still be redeemed if you have your order details.
Conditions of Returns
To be eligible for a return:
- The product is faulty
- The product is not the one you ordered
- The product doesn't perform to manufacturer specification
- The product was damaged in transit (please photograph any damage as soon as you receive it)
- Items must be returned within 14 days of receiving your item
- Items must include original packaging and all supplied accessories (power supply, manuals, etc.)
- Items must be returned as new, free of scratches or marks
- A copy of your original receipt must be included
- Contact us before sending anything back
- Print music, kazoos, tin whistles, and recorders can't be returned due to copyright and hygiene reasons
- Change-of-mind or wrong-product returns aren't accepted
All faulty items go back to the supplier for warranty assessment; we'll keep you posted throughout, though this isn't a guarantee of replacement, repair, or refund.
Free Shipping Exclusions
Free Shipping Exclusions
We’re sorry, but Western Australia and Northern Territory are not included in our Free Shipping offer.
All Consignment Items and Clearance Items are also excluded.
No stress — shipping is automatically calculated at checkout, or simply enter your postcode in the cart’s shipping calculator and we’ll take care of the rest. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
Freight Carrier Handling Fee for Bulky or Overweight Items
Freight companies have recently introduced additional manual-handling fees for items weighing over 20 kg and oversized items that require two or more people to lift and carry because of their weight or size. These fees can range from $50 to $150.
Items that may be subject to this shipping rate include, but are not limited to:
- Drum kits and Harware
- Pianos and keyboards
- Amplifier cabinets
- Amplifier Heads
To account for these charges, we have a flat $100 shipping rate for bulky and overweight items. The applicable shipping charge is shown at checkout.
14 Day Return Policy
14 Day Return Policy
Please contact us within 14 days of receiving your item to request a return if it arrives damaged in transit, has a fault, or does not function as it should. Our 14-day return process is for these issues, not for change-of-mind returns or a “buy and try” purchase.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
We want you to be confident in your purchase, so please choose carefully. Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer refunds or exchanges if you change your mind, select the wrong item, or decide the product isn’t quite what you expected. Our refund option is designed to cover genuine faults or issues that can't be rectified.
If you’re unsure about a product, feel free to contact us before ordering and we’ll be happy to guide you.
How to request a return
To start a return, contact us at sales@gigguitars.com.au.
Please tell us what the issue is. Where practical, include clear photos and, if a sound recording would help demonstrate a fault, send one through as well. For transit damage, photos of the item and its packaging will help us assess what happened.
If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label and instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
You can always contact us with any return question at sales@gigguitars.com.au.
Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
This includes custom-made, clearance and used items.
For hygiene reasons, we also do not accept returns for opened or used mouth-contact items, such as but not limited to harmonicas, reeds and mouthpieces.
If any item arrives damaged, has a fault or does not function as it should, please contact us at sales@gigguitars.com.au so we can assess the issue. If you’re unsure whether a particular item is eligible for return, please get in touch.
Refunds
Our refund option is designed to cover genuine faults or issues. Our refund option is not intended as a “buy and try” service.
The refund process
- If the faulty or damaged item can be repaired, we’ll repair it and return it to you at no cost.
- If the item cannot be repaired, we’ll replace it with a new item of the same model and specifications at no cost to you.
- If it cannot be repaired and a replacement is unavailable, we’ll provide a full refund.
Once we’ve confirmed that the item cannot be repaired and a same-for-same replacement is unavailable, we’ll notify you that a full refund has been approved. We’ll issue the refund to your original payment method within 5 business days. Your bank or card provider may take additional time to make the funds available..
If your refund hasn’t appeared in your original payment account within 7 business days of our refund confirmation, please contact us at sales@gigguitars.com.au and we’ll help you follow it up where possible.
