Why Buy From GIG Guitars

Family-owned in Glen Innes, NSW, GIG Guitars offers carefully selected instruments you can trust. Fast shipping, easy returns, and friendly advice make buying simple and stress-free.

About Us

GIG Guitars is an independent Australian music store based in Glen Innes, in the New England High Country of New South Wales. For seven years, we’ve helped musicians across Australia choose instruments and gear with clearer advice, personal service and genuine enthusiasm for music.

We’re a small regional business, not a national chain. That means you can talk to someone who understands the products, listens to what you need and is prepared to help before and after your purchase.

Specialist advice without the big-chain experience

Choosing an instrument can be deeply personal. Specifications matter, but so do playing style, experience, goals and budget. Whether you’re buying your first guitar, comparing two closely matched models or searching for something specific, we aim to make the decision easier rather than push you towards the quickest sale.

Our range includes guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects, folk and orchestral instruments, audio equipment and essential accessories from established international brands and respected Australian makers. If you’re unsure whether something is right for you, ask us. Straightforward advice is part of the service.

Honest, transparent fulfilment

GIG Guitars serves customers through our Glen Innes store and online across Australia. Some products are available locally, while many online orders are supplied directly by authorised Australian distributors. Supplier-direct delivery helps us offer a broader range without pretending every product is physically sitting in our store.

Whichever fulfilment route applies, we remain your point of contact. We provide order updates, help with product questions and support you if an issue needs to be resolved. For used and vintage instruments, we describe condition and known functionality as clearly as possible so you can make an informed decision.

Why musicians choose GIG Guitars

  • Personal help from an independent specialist music retailer
  • Knowledgeable guidance before and after your purchase
  • A broad range of instruments, amplification and music gear
  • Australia-wide service with local pickup available in Glen Innes
  • Clear communication from real people who care about getting it right

Shipping Policy

Shipping & Returns

At GIG Guitars, we understand that buying an instrument—whether it's your first or your fiftieth—is a meaningful investment. That’s why we treat every order with care, transparency, and a genuine commitment to making your experience smooth and trustworthy from start to finish.

Shipping – Direct to Consumer Delivery

What We Do

GIG Guitars processes direct-to-consumer orders with the utmost attention. Your item will be shipped to your nominated business or residential address using Australia Post E-Parcel, StarTrack Express, or a courier chosen by us on your behalf. Once dispatched, you’ll receive full consignment tracking details via email so you can follow your delivery every step of the way.

What We Don’t Do

While we do everything we can to ensure your order arrives safely, GIG Guitars is not liable for lost or stolen goods once they have been delivered. We recommend reviewing the delivery and proof of delivery policies of Australia Post and StarTrack Express for further clarity:

Insurance is not automatically included in your shipment. If you'd like GIG Guitars to arrange insurance for your delivery, please request this at the time of order—a small additional charge will apply.

If damage occurs during transit, responsibility for logistics and replacement costs lies with the purchaser, unless insurance has been arranged. If you encounter delivery issues, we’re happy to assist with consignment tracking, but direct inquiries to couriers must be handled by the customer.

Returns & Refunds

We’re here to help if something goes wrong—because we care about making things right.

Under Australian Consumer Law, you are entitled to a refund or exchange if an item:

  • Has a fault that would have deterred purchase if known
  • Is unsafe
  • Is significantly different from its description
  • Doesn’t perform as promised and can’t be easily fixed

In these cases, you're eligible for a refund, exchange, or compensation for any reduced value. If the problem is minor, we’ll aim to repair the item in a reasonable time. If not, we’ll offer you a replacement or refund.

We want you to be confident in your purchase, so please choose carefully. Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer refunds or exchanges if you change your mind, select the wrong item, or decide the product isn’t quite what you expected. Our refund option is designed to cover genuine faults or issues — Our refund option is not intended as a "buy and try" service. If you’re unsure about a product, feel free to contact us before ordering and we’ll be happy to guide you.

Please Note:

  • Change-of-mind returns are not accepted.
  • Lost gift vouchers cannot be refunded, but may still be redeemed.

Conditions of Return

To ensure a smooth return process, please ensure the following conditions are met:

  • The product is faulty, incorrect, or does not meet manufacturer specs
  • The product is returned within 14 days of receipt
  • It is returned with original packaging, accessories, and in as-new condition
  • A copy of your receipt must be included
  • You must contact the store prior to sending any return
  • Certain items are non-returnable due to hygiene or copyright reasons: print music, kazoos, tin whistles, recorders

All faulty products are subject to supplier warranty assessment. While we advocate for you in this process, outcomes—repair, replacement, or refund—are at the supplier's discretion.

We’re a small, independent Australian store that takes pride in honest service and genuine customer support. When you shop with GIG Guitars, you’re not just buying a product—you’re putting your trust in us, and we take that seriously. If you ever have questions or need support, we’re just a call or email away.

Thank you for choosing GIG Guitars. We’re here to help you play on.

Freight Carrier Handling Fee for Bulky or Overweight Items

Freight companies have recently introduced additional manual-handling fees for items weighing over 20 kg and oversized items that require two or more people to lift and carry because of their weight or size. These fees can range from $50 to $150.

Items that may be subject to this shipping rate include, but are not limited to:

  • Drum kits and Harware
  • Pianos and keyboards
  • Amplifier cabinets
  • Amplifier Heads

To account for these charges, we have a flat $100 shipping rate for bulky and overweight items. The applicable shipping charge is shown at checkout.

14 Day Return Policy

Please contact us within 14 days of receiving your item to request a return if it arrives damaged in transit, has a fault, or does not function as it should. Our 14-day return process is for these issues, not for change-of-mind returns or a “buy and try” purchase.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

We want you to be confident in your purchase, so please choose carefully. Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer refunds or exchanges if you change your mind, select the wrong item, or decide the product isn’t quite what you expected. Our refund option is designed to cover genuine faults or issues that can't be rectified.

If you’re unsure about a product, feel free to contact us before ordering and we’ll be happy to guide you.

How to request a return

To start a return, contact us at sales@gigguitars.com.au.

Please tell us what the issue is. Where practical, include clear photos and, if a sound recording would help demonstrate a fault, send one through as well. For transit damage, photos of the item and its packaging will help us assess what happened.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label and instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

You can always contact us with any return question at sales@gigguitars.com.au.

Damages and issues

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items

This includes custom-made, clearance and used items.

For hygiene reasons, we also do not accept returns for opened or used mouth-contact items, such as but not limited to harmonicas, reeds and mouthpieces.

If any item arrives damaged, has a fault or does not function as it should, please contact us at sales@gigguitars.com.au so we can assess the issue. If you’re unsure whether a particular item is eligible for return, please get in touch.

Refunds

Our refund option is designed to cover genuine faults or issues. Our refund option is not intended as a “buy and try” service.

The refund process

  1. If the faulty or damaged item can be repaired, we’ll repair it and return it to you at no cost.
  2. If the item cannot be repaired, we’ll replace it with a new item of the same model and specifications at no cost to you.
  3. If it cannot be repaired and a replacement is unavailable, we’ll provide a full refund.

Once we’ve confirmed that the item cannot be repaired and a same-for-same replacement is unavailable, we’ll notify you that a full refund has been approved. We’ll issue the refund to your original payment method within 5 business days. Your bank or card provider may take additional time to make the funds available..

If your refund hasn’t appeared in your original payment account within 7 business days of our refund confirmation, please contact us at sales@gigguitars.com.au and we’ll help you follow it up where possible.
