About Us
Our Story – GIG Guitars
Established May 2019
GIG Guitars opened its doors in May 2019 with a simple mission: to help musicians find the right instrument—whether they’re just starting out or decades into their musical journey. Located in the Glen Innes Highlands, NSW, we began as a passion project and quickly became a trusted name for quality guitars and gear across Australia.
From day one, we’ve offered a diverse range of new, used and vintage guitars, along with string instruments like banjos, mandolins, and ukuleles. We also stock amps, tuners, pedals, PA systems, mics, recording bundles, and more—everything a modern musician needs.
Since 2019 – Guitars and Gear for Everyone
- Our collection has grown to include:
- Acoustic, electric, bass, classical, hollow-body, and jazz guitars
- Left-handed models and beginner packs
- Accessories including stands, straps, strings, tuners, and pedals
- Studio gear like microphones, headphones, and mixers
- Reconditioned used and vintage gear from trusted sources
We represent respected brands like Aria, Danelectro, Dunlop, Grover, Remo, Redding, Snark, Xtreme, Takamine, Tanglewood, Hagstrom, Sigma, and more.
A Personal Buying Experience
We believe choosing an instrument should be hands-on and emotional. That’s why our in-store experience is built around the senses:
- See – Appreciate its shape, colour, and character
- Touch – Feel it in your hands, test its weight and comfort
- Hear – Play freely and explore its sound in a relaxed space
Our team encourages you to look beyond labels and focus on what truly suits your playing style and musical goals.
A Community Built Through Music
Since 2019, GIG Guitars has become more than a shop—it’s a space for connection. Local musicians, students, and pros regularly drop in for a chat, jam, or open mic. We host and support community events and are proud to provide instruments for local causes.
“We have some very talented local artists that meet at our store for open sessions. We love seeing them learn from each other.” – Rico
Meet the Founder – Rico
The heart behind GIG Guitars is Enrico—known to all as Rico. His musical journey began at 8 years old when he picked up his uncle’s acoustic guitar. After moving to Australia in 1984, he developed a deep love for classical, rock and blues, inspired by artists like INXS, Split Enz, and Cold Chisel.
By 2019, Rico had a personal collection of 50+ guitars and, with a little encouragement from his wife, began selling a few. Demand grew—and GIG Guitars was born.
“The only guitar I regret selling was a 1979 Fender Strat Hardtail. It turned heads every time we played it in-store.” – Rico
Today, Rico still plays, collects, and supports artists who visit Glen Innes, including touring bands like Murphy’s Pigs. His passion remains the same: help people fall in love with music—one instrument at a time.

Shipping Policy
Shipping & Returns
At GIG Guitars, we understand that buying an instrument—whether it's your first or your fiftieth—is a meaningful investment. That’s why we treat every order with care, transparency, and a genuine commitment to making your experience smooth and trustworthy from start to finish.
Shipping – Direct to Consumer Delivery
What We Do
GIG Guitars processes direct-to-consumer orders with the utmost attention. Your item will be shipped to your nominated business or residential address using Australia Post E-Parcel, StarTrack Express, or a courier chosen by us on your behalf. Once dispatched, you’ll receive full consignment tracking details via email so you can follow your delivery every step of the way.
What We Don’t Do
While we do everything we can to ensure your order arrives safely, GIG Guitars is not liable for lost or stolen goods once they have been delivered. We recommend reviewing the delivery and proof of delivery policies of Australia Post and StarTrack Express for further clarity:
Insurance is not automatically included in your shipment. If you'd like GIG Guitars to arrange insurance for your delivery, please request this at the time of order—a small additional charge will apply.
If damage occurs during transit, responsibility for logistics and replacement costs lies with the purchaser, unless insurance has been arranged. If you encounter delivery issues, we’re happy to assist with consignment tracking, but direct inquiries to couriers must be handled by the customer.
Returns & Refunds
We’re here to help if something goes wrong—because we care about making things right.
Under Australian Consumer Law, you are entitled to a refund or exchange if an item:
-
Has a fault that would have deterred purchase if known
-
Is unsafe
-
Is significantly different from its description
-
Doesn’t perform as promised and can’t be easily fixed
In these cases, you're eligible for a refund, exchange, or compensation for any reduced value. If the problem is minor, we’ll aim to repair the item in a reasonable time. If not, we’ll offer you a replacement or refund.
Please Note:
-
Change-of-mind returns are not accepted.
-
Lost gift vouchers cannot be refunded, but may still be redeemed.
Conditions of Return
To ensure a smooth return process, please ensure the following conditions are met:
-
The product is faulty, incorrect, or does not meet manufacturer specs
-
The product is returned within 14 days of receipt
-
It is returned with original packaging, accessories, and in as-new condition
-
A copy of your receipt must be included
-
You must contact the store prior to sending any return
-
Certain items are non-returnable due to hygiene or copyright reasons: print music, kazoos, tin whistles, recorders
All faulty products are subject to supplier warranty assessment. While we advocate for you in this process, outcomes—repair, replacement, or refund—are at the supplier's discretion.
We’re a small, independent Australian store that takes pride in honest service and genuine customer support. When you shop with GIG Guitars, you’re not just buying a product—you’re putting your trust in us, and we take that seriously. If you ever have questions or need support, we’re just a call or email away.
Thank you for choosing GIG Guitars. We’re here to help you play on.

Let customers speak for us
from 35 reviewsGIG Guitars made the whole process so easy. Rico kept me updated with great communication, delivery was fast, and everything arrived in perfect condition. Couldn’t be happier with the service.

Great guitar by Tanglewood! I missed out on the original release and I’m so glad they reissued the 20th Anniversary. Just had to get one and it’s awesome!!
GIG Guitars were wonderful to deal with. The staff were friendly, answered all my questions, and made buying so simple. Great service and I’ll happily shop here again.

This guitar looks beautiful and has a rich, full sound. The size is perfect for a woman, it’s very easy to play, and the quality is exceptional. I love everything about it.

A beautiful guitar which came well packaged with speedy delivery, excellent customer service and communication from Rico, would absolutely buy from this business again.
Great customer service. Great shop. Rico is the man

Great little amp. Awesome for practice at home. Probably even do some small gigs lol
Shopping with GIG Guitars is easy and fast. Rico has an abundant supply of knowledge and generously shares it in a friendly manner.
The team at GIG Guitars were fantastic in helping us choose the right instrument for our child. They took the time to understand our needs and recommended the cello that offered the best balance of quality, playability, and value for money. Their knowledge and service made the whole process easy and stress‑free. Delivery was prompt, and we feel confident knowing we’ve purchased from a store that truly cares about its customers. Highly recommended.

"We purchased the Vivo 3/4 Student Cello for our 15‑year‑old and could not be happier. The quality of the instrument is excellent for a student model – solid build, great tone, and very playable. Our child has found it comfortable to hold and easy to produce a clear sound, which makes practice far more enjoyable. The included case is sturdy and practical, giving us peace of mind for transport and storage. A great value package for a young cellist."
Fantastic service from start to finish! My order was processed quickly, shipped promptly, and arrived in perfect condition. The team at GIG Guitars was responsive, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s great to deal with a store that genuinely cares about its customers.
On top of that, I’m thrilled to support an Australian business that promotes locally made instruments. I’ll definitely be shopping with GIG Guitars again — highly recommended!

I recently purchased the Pratley SL Dreadnought with a solid Queensland Blue Fig top and layered Fig back and sides, and I couldn’t be happier. The build quality is absolutely superb — you can tell it’s been crafted with care and precision. Visually, it’s a stunning instrument with unique native timbers that really set it apart.
The tone is rich, warm, and balanced, both unplugged and through the onboard pickup. For the price, the value is unbeatable — it easily holds its own against guitars twice the cost.
Big shoutout to GIG Guitars as well — their service was prompt, professional, and friendly. Delivery was fast and the guitar arrived in perfect condition.
Best of all, I’m proud to support a high-quality Australian-made instrument. Highly recommended!

Guitar turned up the bext day from ordering. Heavily packaged and wrapped. Absolutley amazing.

I was after a cheap baritone for drop F/E tuning, and with an 80 gauge string this does the job! The electronics can be a little bit noisy but I'm also comparing it to a guitar with a single pickup worth almost as much as this guitar. For the price, this seems to be the best baritone on the market!
This is also my first guitar with a floating bridge, I was worried it would need to be blocked but it's all working great!
I've replaced the tuning machine heads with musiclily locking ones from Amazon (approx 40aud) and do not have any issues with that modification either - highly recommend doing it!
