Ashdown The ORIGINal Valve Bass Preamp Pedal
The Ashdown ORIGINal Valve Bass Preamp Pedal delivers classic Ashdown tone shaping with authentic valve overdrive in one compact, road-ready unit. Designed for professional bassists, it offers crystal-clear cleans, rich harmonic warmth, and foot-switchable valve drive that brings your sound to life on stage or in the studio.
Real Valve Overdrive
Powered by a 12AX7 valve, the ORIGINal’s overdrive circuit replicates the natural compression and harmonic response of a full valve amp. The Drive Gain and Drive Level controls allow you to balance clean and driven tones with precision—ranging from subtle warmth to full growl—while the Shape button provides a broad mid-scoop to instantly enhance clarity and punch.
Powerful Tone Shaping
A five-band EQ (100Hz, 340Hz, 680Hz, 1.6kHz, 7kHz) ensures smooth tonal control with broad overlap between bands for natural response. The -3dB Pad switch matches input sensitivity for active or passive basses, preventing unwanted distortion.
Practical Performance Features
The ORIGINal includes a mute (Showtime) switch for silent tuning, a line input for backing tracks, and headphone output for private practice. Built in a durable metal chassis, it’s equipped with Ashdown’s signature VU meter, providing real-time visual feedback.
